A Message from Brislington Climate Action Group!Climate Festival planned for June 2025: Do you want to be part of it?
A celebration of all the climate and nature projects active in BS4 is planned to take place during the Great Big Green Week, 7-15 June 2025, created by local organisations.
We are looking for:Groups and individuals who can offer an event, a stall, a venue, or similarVolunteers who can take on roles as part of the organising committeeVolunteers who can help out at an event during the green week
The theme will be green but the vibe will be fun and interactive, encouraging involvement in existing initiatives and inviting new ideas. Arts could be a core part, with workshops and local musicians.
‘The aim of the festival is to bring local people from all backgrounds together to create a greener, fairer future for Brislington. We want to grow community connections, local pride and support people to save money (through energy saving, swapping, mending and access to support).’
Brislington Climate Action Group (BCAG) met in November 2024 and came up with many ideas for events. However, we left the form and location(s) open in the hope that we can bring in more voices from across Brislington. The ideas from the meeting included a festival/green fair, perhaps in a closed off road with:Information stalls around green and money saving issuesStalls selling environmentally friendly productsTalks/films on relevant subjectsGames and creative activities for kids
There were also a lot of ideas for other events, which could be connected by the Brislington Green Trail, for instance:Nature connection workshops/sessions in local woodlandA nature walk e.g. along the Brislington Green TrailA bioBlitz of Brislington, and each green space, to get an idea of what lives there and identify any issuesSwap sessions to reduce waste and save money against buying newetc. etc.
We welcome any other ideas you might have, and it would be great to have more people and groups involved. As we are hoping to apply for some funding we would like to know what type of support you or your group would need to input into the events.
Are you inspired by any of the above?Or have you got additional ideas or time to help?
Please fill out the short response form or email brizcag@gmail.com, and tell us how you or your group could support this festival. Feel free to pass this on to interested people or groups.
